As the spearhead of the CIA’s war on terror, CIA agent Joe tries to balance her personal and professional life. Real-life military advisors helped create a more authentic execution of weapons handling, house clearing, positioning, activity-based squads, etc. Mr. Sheridan knows how to take us into testosterone-fueled macho worlds, with no cliches and seemingly no intention. It is what it is.
No apologies needed
His characters are always grounded and he is extremely adept at casting. But to be great, you have to write good roles for women. The writing has to be just as good, if not better, than for men. Guys are easy. Women are smarter and more complex.
They are strong and convincing
Beth in Yellowstone (a great character and performance), the Barrel Riders, the lone ranch hand (the fantastic Jen Landon as Teeter), all great female characters that fit into the world of the story in a natural, effortless way. Not just “Partner…” or T&A. He upped his game with the excellent character Faith Hill, who was annihilated in 1883. follows Dame Mirren in the misfire that occurred in “1923”. Now we have Zoe Saldana doing some of the best work of her career.
What about the face!
I absolutely accept her in an open marriage as the head of the CIA (a good thing). I buy De Oliveira as a broken woman with a burning rage who won’t give up, and thank you, thank you, thank you writers/director/producers for NOT allowing her to get the best of a comrade with another hundred pounds of muscle. Most of all, the truth! I think her character is much more interesting when she’s someone who needs to be knocked out or just laid on the ground before she gives up. Now are we talking about Jill Wagner, or should I talk about her hair?
I’ll buy it
From schmaltzy Hallmark jerks to super dangerous special forces? Special mention: Mrs. Lanier as the mean teenage daughter. I’m looking forward to the arc that will be built for this loose canon, as long as it continues to stay away from the cliches of teen angst. Good actor, could be interesting…
Patrick J. Adams, Douglas Booth, and Allison Pill star in this romantic comedy based on the classic smash hit novel of tragic love. While on a simple assignment to Toronto, Werther, a carefree and charming young writer, stumbles upon the love of his life, only to discover that the young woman is engaged. Despite the pleas of his hypochondriac best friend, Werther turns his world upside down in a desperate, misguided, and hilarious quest to win her heart.
In the final days of World War II, Dick Dynamite and his ragtag team of killing Nazi commandos must stop a group of depraved German scientists from turning the population of New York into flesh-eating zombies.
Avril, a young animal rights lawyer, does everything she can to save her client, a recidivist dog, from the death penalty. This dog helps Avril accept her own human complexity. During development, Laetitia Dosch met Justine Triet, who told her that she was making Anatomija pada (2023), a film about a trial involving a dog and a visually impaired person, with a female lead. . The similarities almost led Dosch to abandon the project.
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers a private investigator’s call and becomes the mole in an undercover investigation of a nursing home. Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”. A remake of the film El agente topo (2020). As I write this, I’m currently on episode 5. This show is funny, thought-provoking and honestly a joy. Ted Danson is brilliant as usual. The other actors who are engaging and fascinating in this “Who Did It” series. I’m both equally dealing with the crime and the human side of loneliness. Each of us, regardless of our age, brings something new to the table. I feel the warmth of the message without all the joy. The comedy is beautifully woven into the fact that the laughs are genuine. I hope this show continues on the journey that I really enjoyed. Bravo to the writers, actors and directors who have made the show a gem.
